FAQ

Q: Do you require payment upfront?  What forms payment do you accept?

A: Yes, I require 100% deposit of services prior to confirming a reservation for vacation care and one week of  daily services for new clients.  I accept personal check, cash and PAYPAL (credit cards) upon request.  Any checks received will not be cashed until the start of services.  Returned checks will be charged $25 plus all bank fees.

Q: I have an older pit bull, will you still pet sit him?

A: Paws-itive Pet Sitting does not have a disqualifying breed list.  Meaning, I do not prejudge a dog based soley on breed.  I have special love for the "bully" breeds and have generally found them to be the most well behaved dogs.

As for aging/handicapped pets, I am a proud member of the Handicapped Pet Friendly Pet Sitters organization and have had special training on caring for elderly, handicapped pets.

Q: What can I expect upon my return?

A: You will find a thank you card with any details that weren't covered in the daily emails.  In this card, there is a reminder for you to call/email me so I know you are back safe and your pets are in your care.

If I do not hear from you, I will try to call, email or text you and if I still haven't heard a response from you, I will continue services until contacted by you.  An invoice for any extra services provided will be either left at last visit or mailed within 3 business days.

So no matter what the circumstances or delays are, your pet(s) and home are well taken care of and you do not need to worry.

Q: What services do you offer and how much do you charge?

A: Please call 303.317.3147 for rates/prices or visit our request service page to email Paws-itive Pet Sitting. All prices are subject to change at any time without notice.  All rates are based on two pets.  And while we are happy to feed fish, hamsters, and other small caged mammals for no additional charge, we may be required to stay longer to complete all the tasks.  If the alloted time per visit is not enough to complete in a professional manner, there may be an additional charge of $7.00 per 10-minute block of time.   Sorry, no in your home overnight services available at this time.

Q: Why should I use a professional pet sitter instead of "doggie day care" or kennel?

A: Kennels and 'doggie daycare' facilities do work for a lot people and their pets, but here are a few reasons to choose a home-based pet sitting service instead;

  • doggie day care requires you to put Rover in the car and drive to a facility; all on their time frame.
  • while Rover definitely gets more exercise and contact with other animals at a daycare, Rover is also exposed to other potentially sick and/or aggressive animals.
  • Rover is in his/her own environment.  Daycare can overwhelm your dog(s) and create stress that can make him/her more susceptible to disease and other behavioral issues.
  • in many if not most cases, home based pet sitting is less expensive then daycare.
  • lastly, Rover will have individual love and attention for the duration of the visit.  This allows the pet sitter to become famaliar with Rover and will notice changes in personality, health and over all well being. Daycare that is not possible.

Q: Is there an online form I can fill out?  I am at work and do not have time to call.

A: Yes.  Please visit our "Request Services/Information" page.

Q: My dog can sometimes be aggressive, will you still pet sit for me?

A: For aggressive pets, I will meet you and your pet in person at your home to determine if there is a good fit between you, your pet and my services.    If at any time I feel that it is unsafe to perform a service, I reserve the right to discontinue service.

Q: Do you need a copy of my house key?

A: Yes.  No ID is attached to the key but rather a key chain, color coded to your pet's name and random number. The keys are locked in our safe, away from our client files when not in use. It is recommended you leave your key on file with me so Paws-itive is ready for the next time you go away or if there is an emergency, I can check on your pets.  Paws-itive asks that clients do not leave keys hidden outside as the security of your home and pets are very important to me. For me to personally drop your key off, Key Return Fee is $6; if you wish your key to be mailed to you, please provide a self addressed, paid envelope to an address other than your home. Upon your arrival, I will mail key back to you.  Paws-itive is not responsible for keys lost by the US Postal Service.

Q: Can you administer medication and/or take care of special needs?

A: I have experience administering medications including Sub-q fluids, pills and injections/shots.  Paws-itive Pet Sitting is a proud member of the Handicapped Pet Friendly Pet Sitters organization and have personal experience caring for elderly, special needs pets.   At the Pre-Visit (meet-n-greet), we will discuss any and all concerns you have for beloved pet.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me anytime, I am available for all questions.

Q: Can I call you while I am away?

A: Yes.  I will also send you daily emails with details about pet and a picture.

Q: How should I prepare for my pet sitter?

A: The pre-visit will go over all of the paperwork you will need to complete prior to the start of the service, but here is a few items to help you get started:

  • have enough food, treats, litter and all other supplies for your pets while you are away.
  • provide emergency contact information, how to get in touch with you, veterinarian information, etc.
  • think about and write down the regular and special needs your pet(s) may have.
  • write down the home care items that you would like Paws-itive Pet Sitting to take care of; mail, keys, garbage day, newspapers, etc.

Q: Can I tip?

A: Yes!  It would be much appreciated but not necessary.
